Photos: Wendy Williams hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation

Wendy Williams was reportedly hospitalized this week for mental health reasons.

According to TMZ, the 57-year-old talk show host was voluntarily admitted to a New York City hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. 

Though the publication reports Williams was transported to the facility on Tuesday, other outlets indicate she was taken at around 8 a.m. Wednesday, shortly after officers arrived at an apartment building where Williams resides. 

“There was a call for a 57-year-old non-violent female who needed psychiatric services at that address on Wednesday morning,” NYPD spokesperson told The-Sun. 

“They were transported to the hospital.” Williams, who has been open about her struggles with Graves’ disease, was scheduled to kick off season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show on Sept. 20. 

The show’s producers announced the news via Instagram last week, stating the eponymous host was “dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations.”
