The star, 58, was one of seven people to die when a small jet crashed into the lake near Smyrna. His wife, Gwen Shamblin Lara, who founded a church in 1999, was also among the dead. Investigators on Sunday continued searching for the bodies of the victims.

MUST-READ: Weddings in hotels in Dubai may now have up to 100 attendees but...

Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced updated precautionary measures for events and activities, effective from 17 May 2021.
According to the revised measures, weddings in hotels may now have up to 100 attendees, and community sports and social events may now take place, so long as all participants and attendees have been vaccinated.
These new rules - which have been introduced on a trial basis and will be continually reviewed - have caused much excitement amongst the community, but have left parents of younger children with a question.
Since kids below the age of 12 still unable to take the vaccine, what does this mean for children’s attendance at family and social events such as weddings?

Since young children are not able to be vaccinated yet, will they be able to attend family weddings?

A spokesperson for the Dubai Government said in an exclusive interview with Gulf News: “The relaxation of the recent precautionary measures announced by the Dubai Supreme committee for and Disasters has helped weddings return. Up to 100 people can attend the ceremony if they were fully vaccinated including children who already took both doses.”

Since children are not able to be vaccinated yet, will they be able to attend or take part in community sports events, concerts and other events that require attendees to be vaccinated?

A spokesperson for the Dubai Governmentclarified for Gulf News: “The Ministry of Health and Prevention has recently approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children in the 12 to 15 age group in the UAE. So once they are fully vaccinated then they will be able to attend those gatherings.

"Children who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to take part in the community events for their own safety and the safety of others. It is worth noting that the situation will be assessed after one month of implementing these new measures.”

The new Dubai COVID-19 rules overhaul

In Dubai live entertainment and activities are now allowed to be held in restaurants, cafes and shopping malls for a trial period of one month (extendable) starting 17 May 2021, on the condition that the latest precautionary measures are observed and performers and entertainers have taken the COVID-19 vaccine.

All entertainment facilities and venues can have an increased capacity of 70% while hotels can raise their occupancy ceiling to 100%.

Wedding events are allowed to be held with the maximum attendance capped at 100 for wedding venues/hotels; all attendees and staff should have received the COVID-19 vaccination. Attendance at wedding events at homes is capped at 30; all attendees should strictly observe updated precautionary measures, including social distancing rules and wearing of masks.

Permits will also be given for community sports events, concerts and social and institutional events like gala dinners and award ceremonies for a trial period of one month (extendable) starting from 17 May on the condition that attendees and participants have been vaccinated for COVID-19 and observe the latest precautionary measures as required under the permit type.

Fans and spectators will also be able to attend sports events provided all attendees, participants and staff have received the COVID-19 vaccine. The attendance capacity for these permitted events should not exceed 70%. The maximum attendance allowed for such events that receive permits after the updated precautionary measures come into effect on 17 May, is 1,500 for indoor events and 2,500 for outdoor events.

The maximum number of people allowed to sit on a single table at restaurants has been increased to 10. Coffee shops can have a maximum of six people per table. Restaurants are allowed to resume brunches with strict observance of updated precautionary measures outlined by authorities.

The Supreme Committee stressed that it continues to be mandatory for people attending events and activities to wear face masks and observe minimum physical distancing of two metres.

How to get your child the COVID-19 vaccine in Dubai

On May 13, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it has approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the age group of 12 to 15 year olds, under the outcomes of clinical trials and a strict assessment conducted to approve the emergency local use of the vaccine.

However, children below the age of 12 are still not able to receive the vaccine.

You can easily book an appointment for your child aged 12 years and over to have the COVID-19 vaccine by downloading the ‘COVID-19 UAE’ app, created by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), which is available on both Android and Apple devices.

Photos: British PM Boris Johnson & fiancée Carrie Symonds wed in secret ceremony

Boris Johnson married girlfriend Carrie Symonds in a secret ceremony yesterday morning, the Mail on Sunday can reveal.
Mr Johnson, 56, exchanged vows with Ms Symonds, 33, in Catholic Westminster Cathedral in front of a handful of close friends and family - becoming the first Prime Minister to marry in office since Lord Liverpool married Mary Chester in 1822.
It comes just six days after the couple - who became engaged on the Caribbean island of Mustique in December 2019 and have baby Wilfred, aged one - sent out save-the-date cards to guests telling them to keep Saturday, July 30, 2022 free for a marriage celebration. Despite sending out the cards, the couple are understood to have been secretly planning the small ceremony for six months.
Under current Covid rules there is a limit of 30 guests at weddings - although the cap is expected to be lifted on June 21st - 'freedom day' - when most restrictions are set to be lifted. With Mr Johnson pegged to be back at work next week, it looks unlikely the couple - who will make their debut appearance as husband and wife at the G7 summit in June - will have a honeymoon. One-year-old Wilfred attended the wedding, as did two official witnesses. Ms Symonds shared a picture of their son yesterday in a field of bluebells - which some speculated was a nod to the tradition of 'something blue'.
Mr Johnson's sibling's Rachel, Jo and Leo Johnson are also understood to have attended, along with his father Stanley.

19 y.o Cam Anthony wins Season 20 of The Voice! #TeamBlakeShelton

Anthony was crowned the Season 20 champ of during Tuesday's finale, handing Blake Shelton yet another title.
Country star Blake Shelton rarely gets introspective on “The Voice.”
But during Monday’s penultimate episode, after his contestant Cam Anthony dazzled the audience with a stunning cover of Cynthia Erivo’s “Stand Up,” Shelton couldn’t help himself. Anthony took the first step toward that achievement Tuesday, when he was named the champion of Season 20, winning over Victor Solomon, Rachel Mac, Jordan Matthew Young and runner-up Kenzie Wheeler.

“The Voice” winner earns $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group, but even more importantly, they receive the exposure that comes with singing for millions of viewers every week on one of the country’s most-watched shows.

At 14, he signed a record deal with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, and landed more high-profile gigs. He impressed President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle at the 2014 White House Easter Egg Roll when he belted out the national anthem. (“The first thing that the president said was, ‘Cam, your voice is phenomenal,’ ” Anthony recalled during a “Voice” interview.) In 2018, he won Fox’s reboot of “Showtime at the Apollo.” Yet as Anthony explained on “The Voice,” after all his early success, things took a turn and started “not necessarily going great.” So he turned to the NBC singing show to try to “re-create” himself after his career stalled.

No other contestant this season came close to matching Anthony’s combination of vocal skill and charisma onstage, honed from years of high-pressure gigs. He could tackle songs from any artist, such as Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber’s “10,000 Hours” and Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”
The coaches were beside themselves nearly every time he stepped onstage — particularly John Legend, who was blocked by Nick Jonas from lobbying for Anthony to be on his team, thanks to the show’s most frustrating twist.

Congratulations to the young man!

Why UAE's Emirates flew a man solo from India to Dubai & what the airline did

Meet Bhavesh Javeri from Dubai, who hit the headlines on Wednesday for being the only passenger on an Emirates flight from Mumbai to Dubai.
A Dubai resident for 20 years, Javeri's video of his experience of being a solo passenger on EK501 has gone viral on social media.
"As soon as I entered the airport, I realised I was the only one in the flight. It was a unique feeling and experience which money can't buy. I was quite excited and then I decided to make a short video and shared it on my personal social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram.
From there it got picked up and went viral on WhatsApp,” Javeri, a UAE Golden Visa residency holder, told Khaleej Times in an interview on Wednesday.
The UAE has put in place a ban on passengers from India starting April 24 but certain categories of passengers are allowed to fly into the UAE, such as members of diplomatic missions, golden visa holders, UAE nationals and passengers exempted and/or granted permission to enter by the authorities.

The ban has been extended until at least June 14, Emirates said in a statement earlier this week.
"Today, I am special because I am the only passenger on an Emirates flight to Dubai from Mumbai," Javeri said in the video. He was warmly received by the Emirates' cabin crew as all the air hostesses clapped to welcome him aboard. Javeri was also escorted to the plane by the crew. Javeri, a diamond trader and CEO of DMCC-based Stargems BVBA, paid around Dh980 for the ticket. He was allocated 18A seat in the Boeing 777 flight which has a capacity to carry over 350 passengers.

"I was very excited when I entered the plane at 4.30am. But when the flight took off I just crashed and fell asleep.
I woke up when the plane landed at the Dubai airport. I had planned to walk around the flight but I was too exhausted. But the welcoming was warm enough," Javeri told this newspaper.
"When I was talking to the crew, the pilot also came out to say ‘hello’. It's a big thank you to the crew, pilot and Emirates for making this happen. It was a lifetime experience which money can't buy,” said Javeri.

"When I came to Dubai in 2001, I had nothing. I was a salesman in a jewellery store with Dh1,600 salary. We started a company in 2004 and from then onwards it has been a one-way upward journey. Now, we are an international company with a turnover of over $650 million (Dh2.4 billion) in 2020," he said.
A Dubai resident for 20 years, Javeri's video of his experience of being a solo passenger on EK501 has gone viral on social media.
