Kanye West declines Kim Kardashian's divorce demands

Kanye West has legally objected to Kim Kardashian’s request to be declare single amid their ongoing divorce.
In his response to Kim’s filing, Kanye stated he wants safeguards for his assets before the judge signs off on Kim’s desires.

According to Page Six

West, now legally known as Ye, appears to be concerned that the Skims founder could remarry before the divorce is finalized, which could be the prompt for the documentation, obtained by Page Six.
In the documents, the “Donda 2” rapper asks that they establish a “right of reimbursement,” in which either party would be reimbursed monies owed in case one of them died. Kardashian’s attorney, however, “asserted that this condition is unnecessary given the premarital agreement.” West, 44, also wants to ensure that no assets are transferred out of trusts they created, but Kardashian, 41, claims in the documents that such a condition would be “unnecessary” given the terms of their prenup. (The former couple’s prenup has kept all of their assets separate since the start of the marriage. “This is not an extravagant request,” the documents state. “This condition merely maintains the parties in the same position they are in now.”
Lastly — and perhaps most notably — West wants the KKW Beauty founder to waive marital privilege until they’ve reached a final custody agreement on their four kids and a finalized property agreement. Without marital privilege, all communications between the Yeezy fashion designer and Kardashian would be part of the court record.
West also wants the former E! reality star to waive the privilege if she remarries so any conversations about custody would be accessible in court.
However, West agreed to exceptions related to “income, expenses, assets, debts and employment,” which would remain private. There is a hearing scheduled for next month to address Kardashian’s legal marital status.
Her attorney is A-list divorce maestro Laura Wasser. The former “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star, who is dating Pete Davidson, filed for divorce from West in February 2021.
They share four children: daughters North, 8, and Chicago, 4, and sons Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2.

The UAE announces a host of new visa categories

The UAE has eased a number of rules, of late, that cover a wide spectrum of people in the country. It includes rules on consumption of alcohol, 21+ rating of movies in theatres and relationships of unmarried couples.
The UAE also announced a host of new visa categories as part of its reforms to make the UAE more competitive economically.
In addition, to enhance work-life balance among the residents, the federal government introduced a two-and-a-half-day weekend.
Below is the list of rules that have been eased, of late, by the UAE authorities.
  • 21+ age rating for movies: The UAE’s Media Regulatory Office announced a new classification of 21+ that would see international versions of movies being screened in cinemas without censorship, as was the case with some releases earlier.
  • Largest legal reforms in UAE’s history: Over 40 laws are included in the changes. The amendments cover investment, trade and industry, commercial company, regulation and protection of industrial property, copyright, trademarks, commercial register, electronic transactions, trust services, factoring, and residency. They also offer enhanced protections for women and domestic servants; strengthen public safety and security provisions; and ease restrictions on extra-marital relationships.
  • Live-in couples: The Federal Crime and Punishment Law was updated in November which decriminalised consensual relationships out of wedlock, provided that any child conceived as a result of the relationship is acknowledged and will be cared for.
  • Alcohol laws: Abu Dhabi had ended its licensing system for alcohol purchases for residents last year. Federal level legal reforms announced last month prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages in a public place or in unlicensed locations. It also prohibits the sale, provision or incitement or inducement to consume alcoholic beverages to any person below 21 years of age.
  • Drug laws: The UAE amended anti-narcotics laws as part of legislative reforms in the country. Some of the drug law’s major highlights include rehabilitation of first-time drug offenders, optional deportation of expats convicted in drug-related cases but tougher penalties on serial offenders. Other changes include reducing minimum sentences from 2 years to 3 months for first-time drug offenders and offering convicts rehabilitation at a detention facility.
  • New weekend: In December, the UAE announced a major decision, giving a two-and-a-half-day weekend to the public sector from next year. The weekend will begin from mid-day Friday until Sunday from January 2022.
  • Public, private work systems unified: Starting February 2, 2022, employees of federal entities and private companies will obtain the same leaves and end-of-service benefits and have the option to opt for flexible, part-time and temporary work models.
  • Long-term residency options: The UAE has announced several new visa reforms, too. Employees of multinational companies can now avail themselves of Dubai’s new five-year, multi-entry visa. In addition, many other categories for visas were also announced including Retirement Visa, Golden Visa, Green Visa, Freelancer Visa, Multi-entry Tourism Visa, Remote Work Visa and Temporary Work permit.

Dubai Police in collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai have set a new Guinness World Record for creating the ‘Largest online video chain of people passing and wearing a self-adhesive badge/sticker’.
A total of 265 people from 193 nationalities and 192 Country Pavilions said “Thank you Expo 2020” on camera in their national languages before virtually handing the Expo 2020 Dubai badge, or pin, to one another via split screens.

#District2020: This is what will happen to the #Expo2020Dubai site when the Expo ends next month

The Expo 2020 Dubai legacy site will transform into a residential community once the world's fair is over — with cycling the main method of transport.
District 2020 will become the country's first “15-minute city”, meaning it will be possible to walk or cycle from end to end without the need for a car. David Gourlay, director of architecture for District 2020, the name of the legacy site, took visitors on a cycling tour of the site on Wednesday. There is already a major focus on its future use, he said, with only 56 days to go until its grand finale. “With Expo 2020 Dubai ending on March 31, we hosted this tour to highlight how the site will evolve into a fully integrated community, and a 15-minute city that offers workers, residents and visitors everything they need in close proximity,” he said. “A big part of District 2020’s infrastructure is centred around health and well-being with the aim of promoting an active and balanced lifestyle. “The site will feature smart mobility solutions that encourage sustainable and flexible means of movement, allowing people to travel safely and conveniently between their office and home. “This includes a range of mobility options that link the site, such as a dedicated autonomous vehicle route, a 10 kilometre cycling track, interconnected, wide pedestrianised pathways and a 5km jogging track.”

Mr Gourley spoke after an event at Expo's Health and Wellness week. Examples from the International Well Building Institute (IWBI), Copenhagenize Design — an index providing a ranking of bicycle-friendly cities — and the Swedish Public Health Agency were also featured. The Expo 2020 Dubai site forms of large part of Dubai's 2040 Urban Plan. Much of the city's physical expansion to accommodate a projected population of 5.8 million is focused in the southern part, with expanded suburbs around Expo and Silicon Oasis. Once the world's fair draws to close on March 31, work will begin on transforming the $8 billion site into a residential and commercial community. It is estimated that about 80 per cent of the structures will remain in some form.
The UK has already said it will open a hydrogen innovation centre with the UAE on the legacy site. Italy's government said it will run a “renaissance” legacy project at the site to preserve archaeological artefacts and art recovered from war zones. Speaking to The National shortly before the world's fair began, chief experience officer Marjan Faraidooni said some of the largest buildings on site, such as the Mobility pavilion, were built with the future in mind. “When we thought about the buildings, we automatically thought about what these buildings would be doing after the event is over.

For this particular one — Mobility — the legacy is very flexible,” Ms Faraidooni said.
“We have worked closely with the architects on a design that allows us to shift and repurpose it as a commercial office building.”

Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst's mum, April Simpkins speaks out on her suicide

April Simpkins, mother of former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, spoke out for the first time about her daughter’s death.
According to Complex
“I have never known a pain as deep as this,” Simpkins wrote in a statement, obtained by TMZ.
“I am forever changed.” Simpkins said her daughter had been dealing with “high-functioning depression,” which she only recently disclosed to her and no one else.
“While it may be hard to believe, it’s true. Cheslie led both a public and a private life,” she wrote.
“In her private life, she was dealing with high-functioning depression which she hid from everyone – including me, her closest confidant – until very shortly before her death.” Aside from being crowned Miss USA in 2019, Kryst was an attorney licensed in North and South Carolina, as well as a correspondent for Extra. “Cheslie – to the world, you were a ball of sunshine wrapped in smiles. We talked, FaceTimed or texted one another all day, every day. You were more than a daughter – you were my very best friend,” Simpkins wrote.
“Talking with you was one of the best parts of my day. Your smile and laugh were infectious.” “I love you baby girl with all my heart. I miss you desperately. I know one day we’ll be together again. Until then, rest easy and in peace,” she concluded.
In an essay for Oprah Daily, Gayle King opened up about the difficulties she has faced coming to terms with the death of Kryst, who became a friend after they first met in 2019 following her Miss USA win. “I simply refused to believe it. Perhaps she had been pushed? Maybe there was some other foul play? Now, of course, we know that is indeed what happened,” King wrote in regards to the cause of her death.
King confessed that she has been trying to understand why she would take her life, saying, “I thought I really knew her.”
