#WOWJBR throwing a huge ten-day musical extravaganza
Until Wednesday February 27, street artists from around the globe will take over five different open-air stages, performing with both “traditional and unconventional instruments.” Set up as a platform for homegrown artists from the UAE, a few highlights include Hamood Bafoory, the first Emirati rocker, 2012 beatbox champion of the UAE, Ray, loop pedal artist Adam Baluch, lap-tapping acoustic guitar player Adam Kadabra and Walter Scalzone, a percussionist who uses a combination of unique visual effects.
As for the international line-up, expect performances from India’s first female bagpiper, The Snake Charmer, flute loop player Sean Regan, multi-instrumental pop duo Hannie along with classical singer Josephine Shaw. Other acts include composer and virtuoso sarod player Soumik Datta and Cat Indigo, a duo that combines the classical harp with the hand pan. The event is completely free to attend, and will take place from 5pm until 10pm on weekdays, and 4pm until 10pm on Friday and Saturday.
Visitors can also walk along JBR’s 1.7km promenade under a canopy of lights and head over to the photo wall for those Insta-snaps.
As for the little ones, a dedicated children’s zone will have interactive workshops and activities to keep them busy.
