Jockeys competed for their share of a prize pot which totals an eye-watering US$30 million (Dhs110,190,000). The eventual winner was Godolphin's Thunder Snow who took home the $10 million Dubai World Cup. The world-famous race was set up by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and owner of Goldophin and Darley Stud – a massive player in the world’s leading horse racing and breeding operations.
