It was remarkable year for the Young lions for winning U-20 World Cup in South Korea and U-19 Euro title.

A triumphant England brought down the curtains on the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 with a 5-2 final victory over the European U-17 champions Spain in Kolkata on Saturday. Thanks to Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden’s double (68’, 88’) and Liverpool wonderkid Rhian Brewster’s eighth goal (44’) of the tournament which powered the young lions to clinch their maiden FIFA U-17 title. A resilient show from the English boys saw them overturn a two-goal deficit in a thrilling win over Santiago Denia’s side. Foden’s double cancelled out Spain’s two-goal advantage just after the first-leg, where Sergio Gómez (10’, 31’) had netted twice. Final win also served as sweet revenge for Steve Cooper’s side as Spain had earlier handed them down a beating in the Euro U-17 final in Croatia. Saturday’s thrilling fightback drew a capacity crowd (56,432) to Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangam (Salt Lake Stadium) making it the biggest ever and best attended FIFA U-17 World Cup. With this maiden title, England now became the 9th champion of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
