African arrested & deported for insulting Kuwait, during a rant against the weather

Two Egyptian expats living in Kuwait will be deported - one was found guilty of harassing women in public while the other insulted Kuwait, during a rant against the weather, local media reported.

The families of the two expats were requested to bring two travel tickets and the passports of suspects in preparation for their deportation. The first suspect was accused of harassing girls in public in Hawally area, and was arrested after several reports were filed against him. 

The source said that the expat, in his thirties, denied the charges brought against him at the beginning but investigations proved otherwise. 

Meanwhile, the other expat was accused of insulting Kuwait and uttering inappropriate phrases in a video clip shared widely on social media, and sarcastically expressing his dissatisfaction with the weather and the dust storm. 

In a dashboard camera video posted on the social media app TikTok, the man can be heard complaining about the blinding sandstorm that has engulfed Kuwait for the past few days. 

'I'm inside a dust storm right now, I literally can't see anything in front of me,' the man says, showing the dust coating the road like a thick fog. 'Fine, Kuwait, fine,' he adds, with an expletive in Arabic. 

The clip went viral on Twitter, racking up tens of thousands of views. 

The arrest underscored the country's restrictions on expression and drew criticism on social media over his detention. 

Some social media users, who saw the arrest as a sign of Kuwait's crackdown on free speech and mistreatment of migrant workers, showed their support for the Egyptian man by posting their own videos insulting the weather. 

Egyptians constitute the second-largest expat community in Kuwait, after Indians.

Derek Chauvin sentenced to 22-and-a-half years in prison for the murder of #GeorgeFloyd

From a policeman to a prisoner!

A judge sentenced former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin to 22-1/2 years in prison on Friday for the murder of George Floyd during an arrest in May 2020, video of which galvanized a national protest movement against racism. 

A jury found Chauvin, who is white, guilty on April 20 of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Floyd, a Black man. 

The verdict was widely seen as a landmark rebuke of the disproportionate use of police force against Black Americans. Chauvin's sentence was one of the longest given a former police officer for using unlawful deadly force in the United States, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, whose office prosecuted the case, told reporters. 

Successful prosecutions of police officers in such cases have been rare. 

"Today's sentencing is not justice but it is another moment of real accountability on the road to justice," Ellison said outside the courtroom, calling on law enforcement leaders around the United States to see it as a moment for reform. At the White House, U.S. President Joe Biden, who has spoken several times with the Floyd family, said the sentence seemed appropriate. Both Floyd's brother Rodney and his nephew Brandon Williams criticized the sentence as a "slap on the wrist." 

"We were served a life sentence," Williams said outside the courthouse. "We can't get George back."

A bouncer at New York nightspot Barcade, refused Rihanna entry after the internationally famous superstar, whose face and name are global institutions, who has been on TV since she was 17 (16 years ago!)… forgot her ID.

In the video you can see RiRi and A$AP Rocky chatting with a burly guy in a black t-shirt. 

Rihanna didn’t look too upset in the video; however, she did appear to be a bit annoyed. A$AP was right by her side trying to reason with the bouncer and flashed him a big ole smile. 

Just so you know, Rihanna is 33-years-old and the legal drinking age in the USA is 21-years-old. She’s very much qualified to go into the bar, any bar for that matter, and enjoy a few libations after a long day. Alas, the bouncer seemingly didn’t budge and PopFaction reports she was denied entry. Naturally, Twitter users are beside themselves as a result.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, 79, was arrested by Capitol police for 'illegal demonstrating activity' during a Poor People's Campaign protest in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

Fellow liberal activist Bishop William Barber II, 57, was also arrested during the protest with more than 20 other people, according to WTTG. Barber and Jackson, who has Parkinson's disease, were 'field arrested' for 'illegal demonstration activity' while protesting in support of voting rights and given a ticket but were not taken to jail, NBC News reported. 

Jackson and the protesters had blocked the street outside of the Hart building and refused to disperse during the nonviolent protest, according to Vice News reporter Alexis Johnson.

UFC 263's top earner is Nigeria's Israel Adesanya walking away with £360,000 for win over Marvin Vettori

Fighter salaries from UFC 263 earlier this month have been made public - with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya the undisputed top earner.

Adesanya was the main attraction in Glendale, Arizona, on June 12 and he was paid handsomely to be so. The Nigerian-born New Zealand fighter collected $500,000 (£360,000) for his unanimous decision win over Marvin Vettori, as revealed to MMAJunkie. Vettori, while losing out to Adesanya, pocketed a healthy $350,000 (£252,000) for his role in the main event. As the fight of the night, both Adesanya and Vettori were treated, and paid, as such and they have been disclosed as the two top earners at UFC 263. Among the other standout earners from the event, Nate Diaz, who was making his comeback to the octagon, earned $250,000 (£180,000) in his defeat to the ever-improving Leon Edwards. 

The British fighter earned $220,000 (£158,000), which includes a $110,000 (£79,000) win bonus, for his unanimous decision victory.

Both fighters came away with more than Brandon Moreno and Deiveison Figueirdo despite the high-profile nature of their contest. Moreno earned $200,000 (£144,000) while Figueirdo, who was beaten, earned a fraction more at $210,000 (£151,000). 

It is believed the total salaries paid out for the event totalled just north of $3million.

A group of girls has been arrested in Kuwait after appearing in a video wearing terrifying teeth and drinking a liquid similar to blood, driven by false beliefs, local media reported.

According to informed sources, the Kuwaiti Anti-Human Trafficking Department received a report about a group of girls indulging in 'satanic practices' and sporting demonic teeth during an 'orgy' held at an apartment in Abu Halifa. The girls were seen acting like satanists, enjoying everything forbidden by religions and using magic and witchcraft. Satanists believe Satan will reward them with pleasure and happiness, and after death, they believe they will be sent again to the earth to rule it and enjoy its pleasures. 

The Criminal Investigation Department accordingly launched an investigation into the incident and arrested the girls after successfully locating their whereabouts.

#BreakingNews: Emirates bans Nigeria flights from TODAY until further notice!

Dubai’s Emirates airline said passenger flights to and from Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja) are suspended with effect from June 21 until further notice.

Customers travelling to and from Lagos and Abuja will not be accepted for travel, and those who have been to - or connected through - Nigeria in the last 14 days are not permitted to board from any other point to the UAE. 

“We regret the inconvenience caused, and affected customers should contact their booking agent or Emirates call centre for rebooking,” said the airline. 

“Emirates remains committed to Nigeria, and we look forward to resuming passenger services when conditions allow.” 

Emirates’ also said that flights from South Africa will remain suspended until July 6, in line with government directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from South Africa, into the UAE. Daily passenger flights to Johannesburg will operate as EK763, but outbound passenger services on EK 764 remain suspended. 

Customers who have been to or connected through South Africa in the last 14 days will not be permitted on any Emirates flights bound for Dubai.
