YouTube star Stas Reeflay arrested after killing his pregnant girlfriend on video at a subscriber's request

A YouTuber who is accused of live-streaming while his near-naked girlfriend died in front of his audience has been arrested.

According to The Mirror:

Stas Reeflay allegedly forced the pregnant woman – who was wearing only her underwear – out into the subzero temperatures after a row.

The 30-year-old was allegedly paid $1,000 (£740) by a viewer to inflict this abuse on her in his live stream, according to a report by Russian media. The woman Valentina “Valya” Grigoryeva, 28, died at the scene of suspected hypothermia. The case has led to a call in Russia for an urgent ban on such online reality violence which appears unrestricted on internet sites and can be watched by children. Reeflay – real name Stanislav Reshetnikov – allegedly kept his camera rolling even as he realised Valentina was “half dead” after she was put on an exposed balcony.

He is then reported to have carried her back inside his rented house in Ivanovka village, near Moscow, and kept filming as he tried and failed to revive her. In the video, that The Mirror has decided not to show, he was heard saying:

“Valya, are you alive? “My bunny, what’s up with you?

“Valya, Valya, damn, you look like you are dead. “Bunny, come on…tell me something. I’m worrying. Damn… I’m not feel her heartbeat.” He informed his viewers: “Guys… No pulse… She’s pale. She is not breathing.”

The horrific broadcast is reported to have continued to his 10s of thousands of followers, even when he called an ambulance.

He is heard saying:

“Wake up, Valya, I love you, wake up.”

And it still went on when paramedics arrived and pronounced her dead. It is believed the broadcast continued for two hours after she had died.

In a previous broadcast he is accused of showering her with pepper spray. Reeflay makes money by receiving online “donations” from his Russian and international audience.

Feminist activist Liza Lazerson hit out at YouTube for “prohibiting the spread of nipples but showing scenes of violence and cruelty against women “without problems”. “The woman dies on air – and the audience sends donations to the killer. This must stop.” She warned: “Such videos are calmly broadcast to the whole world, meaning something is broken. “Until this is fixed, censorship is necessary.” Reshetnikov faces up to two years in prison if forensic experts prove that his girlfriend died of hypothermia, say reports citing law enforcement. “Information will also be checked about possible unlawful actions against the deceased by the young man in whose house the body was found,” said the Russian Investigative Committee.

The streamer was held by police who attended the scene, and faced an interrogation over the broadcast and the woman’s death.

An “urgent” investigation is now underway with checks on whether other laws have been broken in the live broadcast.

While YouTube didn’t broadcast the original incident, copies of the stream have been popping up all over the network.

“We’re shocked to learn of this tragic incident,” a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. “This kind of graphic content is not acceptable on YouTube.”

“Although the original live stream did not take place on YouTube, we quickly removed reuploads and terminated the associated account.”

7-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton continues to suffer with coronavirus symptoms

Lewis Hamilton is 'not great' and still suffering from coronavirus symptoms after testing positive on Monday, his Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has said.

Hamilton is currently recovering in bed while self-isolating and has been forced to miss this weekend's Sakhir Grand Prix with George Russell, on loan from the Williams team, filling in for him. Hamilton, who was recently crowned Formula One world champion for a record-equalling seventh time, is frustrated at having to miss out on competing, admitted Wolff - but he added that the 35-year-old British driver's health was the main concern.

The seven-time world champion said he was 'devastated' to miss Sunday's Grand Prix and his participation in the season-finale in Abu Dhabi next weekend is also in doubt. The 35-year-old tested positive on Monday, less than 24 hours after winning the Bahrain Grand Prix.

He was informed that 'a contact prior to his arrival' had also contracted Covid.

Photos: Meet the world's youngest self-made billionaire, 25 y.o Tech wiz, Austin Russell

A young CEO who founded his company at the age of 17 has become an overnight billionaire after taking the firm public.

Austin Russell, 25, saw his stake in Luminar Technologies soar to be worth about $2.4 billion after taking the lidar sensor technology company public on the Nasdaq exchange on Thursday.

That makes him the world's youngest self-made billionaire, according to Forbes.

Russell is private.

He does not have any public social media accounts.

According to public records, he is building a house on land in Atherton, a wealthy suburb of San Francisco. Russell filed for his first patent at age 13, when he invested an underground system to recycle sprinkler water for use in gardening. Instead of high school, he spent his teen years at the University of California at Irvine's Beckman Laser Institute.

Russell was accepted to Stanford to study physics, but soon dropped out to accept a $100,000 Thiel Fellowship stipend for his lidar concept, and founded Luminar. He was barely old enough to drive when he set out to create a safer navigation system for self-driving cars. Luminar makes a lidar sensor, which helps gives vehicles a three-dimensional view of the road using laser ranging equipment. Lidar systems work by bouncing lasers off nearby objects and measuring the reflections to build up a detailed 3-D picture of the surrounding environment.

The technology is similar to radar, which uses radio waves instead of lasers.

LeBron James extends contract with Los Angeles Lakers for $85m!

Fresh off winning the 2020 NBA title, LeBron James has signed a contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers worth a reported $85 million.

James' agent and CEO of Klutch Sports, Rich Paul, first told The Athletic's Shams Charania about the new contract, as well as confirming the agreement to multiple outlets on Wednesday. The deal sees him remain a Laker until the end of the 2022-23 season, and opens up the possibility of playing in the NBA at the same time as his son, Bronny.

James' current deal had been set to expire at the end of the 2021-22 season. As part of the new deal, James is set to earn $41 million in the first year of the extension, before he earns $44.5 million in the final year of his contract. LeBron James has agreed a two-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won the 2020 NBA Championship in October.

At the age of 38, he will become a free agent again in 2023 -- the same year his eldest son Bronny graduates from high school.

Photos: TIME Magazine announces its first-ever Kid of the Year, 15 y.o Gitanjali Rao

TIME Magazine has announced its first-ever Kid of the Year – 15-year-old scientist and inventor Gitanjali Rao.

Rao's love for science began at the age of 10 when she discovered carbon nanotube sensor technology, which uses molecules to detect chemicals in water, and her passion grew from there.

Prior to being named Kid of the Year, Roa was listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for developing a mobile device in 2017 to test for lead in drinking water – an innovation she made to address the Flint, Michigan water crisis.

Her most recent project is an app called Kindly that uses artificial intelligence to detect cyberbullying online at an early stage.

Roa was selected from a group of more than 5,000 nominees, but judges were astonished by her use of technology to combat a number of social issues ranging from contaminated water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying.

Photos: Lady smuggles cocaine in a watermelon 'pregnancy' arrested in Brazil

A woman who smuggled cocaine in a watermelon which she disguised as a baby bump has been arrested in Brazil.

Pretending to be pregnant, the woman boarded a bus bound for Rio de Janeiro but she was searched after police were tipped off about a drugs case.

According to Complex per the New York Post, a São Paulo woman boarded a bus headed to Rio De Janeiro.

Initially it was assumed she was pregnant, but she was subjected to a search after authorities received a tip about a narcotics case.

The lady’s “baby bump” was actually a hollowed-out watermelon holding four bricks of cocaine paste.

After the search, the woman confessed to obtaining the cocaine in Paraguay. The bricks totaled around 4.5 pounds and she claimed to have been smuggling them to Rio in exchange for around $100 USD. She has since been arrested for her hand in the trafficking operation and is currently in jail in Guara on undisclosed charges. São Paulo military police appeared to give her out-of-the-box strategy props, describing the scheme as “creativity without limit” on its official Facebook page.

While it’s unusual to pretend that you’re pregnant, mules have been creating elaborate ways to get cocaine across borders for ages.

In 2018, police in Portugal and Spain seized 1,642 pounds of cocaine that was hidden inside fresh pineapples coming into the area from South America.
