Video: Nigerian wigmaker, Helen Williams, sets a new Guinness World Record for longest handmade wig

Nigeria lady sets Guinness World Record for longest handmade wig A Nigerian lady, Helen Williams has set a new record for longest handmade wig.
The Guinness World Record disclosed this on its X handle on Tuesday. The wig stretches an incredible 351.28 metres (1,152 ft 5 in). She spent 11 days and over N200000 (£2,031; $2,493) making the wig. According to the GWR, Helen has been working as a professional wigmaker for eight years, producing anywhere from 50 to 300 wigs per week.
“Helen Williams from Lagos, Nigeria has achieved a new record for the longest handmade wig which stretches an incredible 351.28 metres (1,152 ft 5 in),” GWR tweeted.
After constructing the underlay with wig-cap netting and black fabric attached to a bicycle helmet, she completed the hairpiece using 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and 6,250 hair clips. “Finding the materials to make the longest wig was not an easy task.
My experience as a wigmaker helped a lot,” Helen said. The biggest challenge Helen faced was finding a space to have the wig laid out in a straight line and accurately measured, as none of the venues she visited – including several running tracks – were long enough to accommodate it.

Saudi Arabia cancels visa on arrival for 264 Nigerians

The Chief Executive Officer, Centurion Aviation Security and Safety Consult, Group Captain John Ojikutu, has condemned the action of the Saudi Arabian government to cancel the visa-on-arrival of 264 Nigerians.
The 264 passengers airlifted by Nigeria’s major carrier, Air Peace, on arrival at the Arab country, were asked to return to Kano, as their visas were cancelled. Reacting to the incident, Ojikutu, an aviation industry expert said it was a case of apparent aeropolitics and diplomacy from Saudi Arabia, describing it as a means to force the Nigerian operator out of the route unless the government intervened, adopting the principle of reciprocity.
He also suggested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs step in immediately and intervene in the case. He said what happened revealed that it is pertinent for the Federal Government to stand strongly with any Nigerian carrier designated to operate international destinations. Ojikutu said Nigeria should designate airlines approved to operate out of the country as flag carriers, noting that the United States had no national carrier, as all the airlines are supported by the government and designated as flag carriers.
“The action of the Saudi authorities is shocking. There is aeropolitics there and there is also diplomacy. There is need for the Nigerian government to stand firmly with Nigerian carriers and also designate them as flag carriers; so that other countries will know that they represent Nigeria.
“Government must come out and intervene. Government must be behind Air Peace now to ensure it is not denied its rights as contained in the Bilateral Air Service Agreement, BASA, between the two countries. ‘’The ministry of foreign affairs must not keep quiet. Nigeria must not keep quiet. Ideally, government is expected to stand behind any of the country’s airline it designates to fly overseas,” Ojikutu said.

Saudi Arabia authorities cancelled the visa of all the 264 passengers who travelled from Nigeria to Jeddah. The Air Peace flight took off from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, via the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano on Sunday night, Nov. 12, and arrived in Saudi Arabia’s major city, Jeddah, today, Nov. 13.
However, on landing, the Saudi Arabian authorities announced that all the passengers’ visas were cancelled and they should return to Nigeria. A source told Vanguard that all the passengers and the airline personnel were shocked at the cancellation of the visas because during check the passengers went through the Advanced Passengers Prescreening System, APPS, which was also monitored by the Saudi Arabia authorities before the flight left Nigeria.

The source wondered whether what happened was a strategy to discourage the airline from operating to the destination because since it started the operation it has been recording a high load factor and even the flight expected to leave on Tuesday to Jeddah was already fully booked. When the Nigerian embassy waded in Saudi authorities were said to have reduced the number of passengers that would be returned from 264 to 170.

Saudi Air has been operating directly from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia and since Air Peace started flight service to the Middle East nation at relatively lower fares, it has been receiving high patronage and as a Nigerian carrier, it helps to conserve foreign exchange for the country.

Photos: Black Panther stuntman, Taraja Ramsess & 3 of his children killed in horrific accident

A Hollywood stuntman, whose film credits include "Black Panther" and "Avengers: Endgame," was killed along with three of his children in a car crash in Georgia.
Taraja Ramsess was driving his 5 kids in a pickup truck on the Interstate in DeKalb County Halloween night when he turned onto an exit ramp and collided with a tractor-trailer, according to WSB-TV News. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Ramsess was declared dead at the scene with two of his daughters -- a 13-year-old and the other just 8 weeks old. His mom, Akili, confirmed their deaths on Instagram and later revealed in a second IG post his 10-year-old son -- who was on life support -- had also passed away.
Akili wrote that Ramsess' two other daughters survived, but the 3-year-old was hospitalized with minor injuries. Akili also honored Ramsess, talking about his love for his children, martial arts, motorcycles and especially filmmaking. In Hollywood, Ramsess was known for his roles in "Black Panther" and "Avengers: Endgame," but his stunt work was also featured in "Avengers: Infinity War," "The Suicide Squad" and "Creed III," as well as other movies.
He also worked in the art department on "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "The Walking Dead" and "The Vampire Diaries."
Ramsess was 41.

Kourtney Kardashian gives birth, welcomes first baby with Travis Barker!

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have welcomed their baby boy, according to People.
Kardashian announced she was expecting in June at one of Barker’s concerts by holding up a sign that read “Travis I’m Pregnant!”
She underwent emergency fetal surgery in September and shared her experience on Instagram with a picture of her holding her husband’s hand.
Just this past Monday, Kardashian and Barker showed off their Beetlejuice-themed Halloween costumes. The couple also has six children between them from past relationships.

The newborn joins the couple's blended family, which includes Kourtney's three children from her relationship with Scott Disick: Mason Disick, 13, Penelope Disick, 11, and Reign Disick, 8. Meanwhile, Travis co-parents Landon Barker, 20, and Alabama Barker, 17, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler and is also a stepdad to Atiana De La Hoya, 24.
Prior to the little one's arrival, Kourtney and Travis—who tied the knot in May 2022—had been vocal about their desires to add to their already large family. In fact, their journey to baby was documented on The Kardashians, with the Poosh founder giving a candid look into the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process.
Congratulations to the couple and family!

Photos: Second human being in history to get pig heart transplant dies

A 58-year-old man who received the second pig heart transplant in history has died.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Faucette, the 58-year-old patient with terminal heart disease who received the world’s second genetically-modified pig heart transplant,” a statement from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, shared on Tuesday, read.

According to doctors, Faucette was given the transplant in September, ultimately living for about six weeks after the procedure.
During that time, doctors said, he was initially shown to be making “significant progress” thanks in large part to physical therapy sessions.
Dr. Bartley P. Griffith, the doctor who translated the pig heart into Faucette, called his patient a “remarkable” man whose parting request exhibited his inspiring attitude toward not only his own situation, but its potential impact on future generations.
“Mr. Faucette's last wish was for us to make the most of what we have learned from our experience, so others may be guaranteed a chance for a new heart when a human organ is unavailable,” Dr. Griffith said. “He then told the team of doctors and nurses who gathered around him that he loved us. We will miss him tremendously.”

In January of last year, the University of Maryland made history with the first successful pig heart transplant. David Bennett, the 57-year-old recipient of the historic transplant, said at the time that he knew it was "a shot in the dark, but it's my last choice."
Bennett died two months later, with researchers later sharing additional information about the transplanted heart in question.
According to Dr. Griffith, the findings from the headlines-spurring 2022 transplant “did not show evidence of rejection.”
