Court Suspends Catalan Independence Declaration

Spain’s Constitutional Court today ordered the suspension of last week’s declaration of independence by the Catalan parliament, a court source said.

 “The court plenary has just provisionally suspended the independence declaration” while it examines an appeal by the Spanish government, the source said, indicating the latest in a series of measures by Madrid to stifle the region’s independence drive.

Spain’s Supreme Court also summoned Catalonia’s former parliamentary speaker to appear for questioning this week to be charged over the region’s independence drive. Carme Forcadell and her parliamentary deputies have been summoned to appear in court on November 2 and 3, the top court said in a statement.

Wendy Williams Faints On Live TV

 Wendy Williams sent viewers into a panic today when she collapsed on live TV. The US presenting star was dressed as the Statue of Liberty for a special Halloween broadcast of her show, Wendy, when she fainted.

As her show returned from a break, Wendy began introducing the next segment from her spot behind a podium.

"Welcome back," she said. "It's time for our Halloween costume contest, we do it every year, it's always a lot of fun, let's get started." Wendy's voice then breaks a little as she continues talking, and a terrified look suddenly comes over her face.


It's clear that she's struggling and isn't feeling well.

The presenter clearly suffers from a dizzy spell as she stumbles backwards and tries to grab onto the podium to save herself from falling.

But poor Wendy suddenly falls to the ground and crew members rush to her side to help her.

Wendy's show was going out live on the East Coast of America, so when it happened, producers quickly cut to black then to a commercial.

When the show returned, Wendy explained that she'd overheated in her costume.

Former President Barack Obama will return to Chicago Tuesday for the first-ever Obama Foundation Summit, a two-day event that aims to inspire a new generation of leaders.

The event will feature hundreds of big names, including Prince Harry and Chance the Rapper, are scheduled to speak and perform.

The summit is the second in a series of events created by the Obamas. The first was the foundation's Chicago Training Day, where young participants strategized to solve community problems.
Obama made a surprise visit to the training day event earlier this month. He listened to each group tackle an issue and present a solution.

Obama told the group: "I'm really excited about what you're going to be doing. You are going to change the world."

A man driving a rental truck plowed into pedestrians and cyclists on a jogging and bike path in lower Manhattan in New York City Tuesday afternoon, killing at least eight people and injuring many others in what New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called a "cowardly act of terror."

The sprawling crime scene runs about 10 blocks along the West Side Highway, a few blocks away from One World Trade Center. "Everybody started running," one witness said.

A suspect was apprehended at the scene. Multiple law enforcement officials reported that the suspect in custody was identified as 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov of Tampa, Florida.
The suspect is reported to have screamed "Allahu Akbar" after the crash, and that is a key reason authorities are looking at terrorism as a possible motive, sources said.

WhatsApp users in the UAE & globally can now delete accidental messages

WhatsApp users in the UAE will be delighted to find out that embarrassing or accidental messages can now be deleted before the recipient has had a chance to read it.

Have you ever accidentally sent a regrettable or unintentional message to the wrong group, or wrong person? Well, if you’re quick on the draw (and have the latest version of the app), you can now right your wrong by deleting the message before anyone has the chance to see it, now that the feature has been made available to UAE residents for the first time. 

It’s fair to say we’ve probably all been fooled by the old WhatsApp feature allowing us to delete a message, thinking the other person wouldn’t see it either – but now the new delete function works for UAE residents.

The hook? Users can only delete messages up to seven minutes after it’s sent, and both you and the recipient have to have the latest version of the app. If anyone in your group (or the direct recipient) doesn’t have the latest version, you won’t be able to delete messages – so we still recommend being doubly sure before pressing the send button.

To delete messages you’ll get a new option after you select delete, allowing you to “delete for everyone” instead of just from your own device. While the feature appears to be rolling out, it’s not fully live just yet. WhatsApp does warn that “recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion was not successful,” so it’s not a guarantee. It’s also possible that WhatsApp users will still see messages in notifications before they’re deleted.

Wendy Williams suffered a bit of a medical emergency during her show this morning.

While she was addressing the audience, her speech suddenly got slurred and she fainted to the floor. After the break, Wendy told everyone that she fainted because she overheated in her Halloween costume. “That was not a stunt. I overheated in my costume and I passed out. But — you know what? I am a champ and I am back.”

EFCC, DSS face-off deepens as anti-graft agency asks Court to punish Lawal Daura over Dasuki

The defence in the ongoing trial of a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday urged the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to order the arrest of the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Mr. Lawal Daura, for failing to produce the detained former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in court.

Justice Okon Abang had on October 25 directed Dasuki and former President Goodluck Jonathan to appear in court on Tuesday in respect of the trial of Metuh.

While Dauski was not produced in court on Tuesday, Jonathan’s lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), appeared in court to challenge the subpoena issued on the former President.

Ozekhome noted that ‎Jonathan had yet to be served but only read about the subpoena in the newspapers.

Justice Abang had on October 25 given the court bailiff five days to effect personal service of the subpoena on Jonathan and also directed the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, to persuade the management of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to liaise with the DSS to produce Dasuki in court on Tuesday (today).

On his part, Tahir said the DSS’ Legal Adviser informed him that Dasuki refused to be brought to court on the advice of his (Dasuki’s) counsel.

He said, “In addition to that, I personally liaised with the Legal Adviser of the DSS on the need for the organisation to comply with the court order.

He argued that the DSS’ conduct by failing to produce Dasuki in court was an act of disrespect for the court.

He thereby urged the court‎ “to apply the consequences provided by the law.”

He said, “I say so because, whenever Sambo Dasuki wants to go to court on his own, it is the duty of the DSS to take him to court and if they don’t want to take him to court, they will decide not to take him to court.

In his contribution, Dasuki’s lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), described Tahir’s submission as “damning and incriminating hearsay” which should be expunged from the court’s record.

The infamous kidnapper a.k.a ‘Abuja Daddy’ reportedly abducted Nancy Dickson, a younger sister to Governor Dickson in 2015…


According to reports, the suspect also kidnapped a local renowned musician Pereama Freetown, Amaebi Efere aka double Snake on his way to negotiate the release of one of his kidnapped victims. He also kidnapped Pena Mogu on his way to pay ransom and several others, according to police reports.

He was arrested along with a lady earlier today in Bayelsa.

Cultists Arrested After Attacking And Killing Victim Who Met Them During Initiation

Some suspects who are members of the dreaded Dee-Gbam cult group in Ohaji/Egbema L.G.A of Imo state were arrested by operatives of the state police command in connection with the murder of Oguegbu Offurum. Investigation revealed that on 08/09/2017, while suspects were carrying out their initiation, the said victim was returning from the market and ran into them, suspects quickly blocked the victim, took him into the bush, killed him and severed his head from the body.


The bodiless head was recovered by security operatives at a shrine in Awara. Investigation is in progress.

The suspects were paraded alongside other criminal elements arrested for various offences in Imo state.
